![]() I really hope people learn to understand that this is a good thing for class design and don't just convince SE to undo this and go back to the bog-standard, and incredibly boring, "1-2-3" combo design.īy having other buttons on the gcd besides your combo, you have to decide moment-by-moment which takes priority. Your final con is only an issue because it's a new class design they're attempting, and adjusting to it is awkward at first. I personally really like it, though I wish it had retained more of an identity gameplay-wise. However, it's also very fun in how fast it is. It is a very intense, demanding, and active job, where slight mistakes can ruin your alignment. ![]() You also have to tunnel your hotbar hard in order to not miss casts. How much that matters is up to you.ĭrill and Air Anchor being on the GCD can make them feel pretty awkward, and causes some weird alignment issues that you have to work around. In general, it feels like it has less identity in terms of gameplay - where old MCH was interestingly designed but didn't play well, new MCH plays pretty well but isn't very interestingly designed. Drill/Anchor are just pressed off cooldown, Queen is just a dot used in raid buffs, and and the once staple of the kit in Wildfire is now a very insignificant-feeling window that only comes once every two minutes. It has three fundamental parts of its kit - Hypercharge, Automaton Queen, and Drill/Air Anchor - and none of those parts really interact with each other at all. You have to weave under a 1.5s recast time GCD extremely often, which can fuck you if your ping is too high. It's significantly more flexible than its Stormblood iteration, due to being able to readily delay both Hypercharge and Automaton Queen. Its rotation is difficult to execute, but fairly simple to understand. It looks and feels great its animations are fluid and you get really beefy damage from Drill and Air Anchor. If you like playing fast, it's the job for you. It's extremely active, with probably the highest APM of any job in the game. However, some old problems have been retained and some new ones have been made. A lot of the clunkiness from Stormblood MCH is gone no more Flamethrower memes, weird heat management, etc. It has several oGCDs (Gauss Round and Ricochet) that it absolutely spams, and on top of that has to frequently use and weave under 1.5s recast GCDs.Īnd in general, have the Stormblood problems been fixed? I've also heard that Machinist also has a lot going on, with plenty of double weaves.
